'I was totally surprised': The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss engaged to line producer Todd Tucker

Their behind-the-scenes love blossomed while filming the fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2011.

And Kandi Burruss is now set to wed Todd Tucker after the line producer proposed to the reality star on New Year's Day with a two-carat diamond sparkler by Gregg Ruth.

According to Us Weekly, the 36-year-old singer was hosting a celebration with friends at the couple's Atlanta home when the 39-year-old suddenly got down on one knee.

'I was totally surprised,' Kandi told the mag.

'I used to make jokes with my friends that I [was] part of the Forever Single Club. That's what I said before, but now I'm totally different.'

Before popping the question, Todd touchingly made sure to talk it over with Kandi's 10-year-old daughter Riley from a previous relationship, who gave him her blessing.

The loved-up couple, who aren't sure whether to televise their nuptials, are reportedly excited to have more children of their own.

And though the lovebirds have two dates in mind for the big day, Kandi plans to drop 20 pounds before saying 'I do.'

'So @doctoriansmith said his new diet book SHRED can help me lose 20lbs/4inches/2sizes n 6 weeks!Get it & lets take the challenge together,' she tweeted Sunday to her 870,000 followers.

The Grammy winner has penned multiple hit songs, including TLC's No Scrubs, Destiny's Child's Bug A Boo, and Pink's There You Go.

Kandi recently strapped on thigh-high leather boots for her new sexy S&M-themed music video.

The former Xscape member also wrapped shooting her own Bravo spin-off The Kandi Factory on December 13.

The reality series follows her as she assists aspiring singers achieve their dreams to become a pop star, and it's scheduled to debut later this year.

Meanwhile, Tucker is known for his production managing work on Oprah Behind the Scenes, BET News, 106 & Park Top 10 Live, and rapper Run-D.M.C.'s reality show Run's House.

Burruss was previously engaged to rapper Ashley 'A.J.' Jewell, who passed away in 2009, and she dated Riley's father Russell 'Block' Spencer in the early 2000s.
