But Keanu Reeves is clearly keen to not let the middle aged spread get the better of him as he was spotted heading the gym in Hollywood on Wednesday.
Arriving by motorbike the 48-year-old looked more like his usual action-hero self, if it wasn't for the extra bloat visible around his face.
Protecting himself on his bike he wore a zip up coat with a pair of leather gloves and a helmet which didn’t cover his face.
Shielding from the sun he covered his eyes with a pair of sunglasses, while his face featured a number of days’ worth of stubble.
His black locks, which have remained pretty much the same since he starred in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures, were kept covered by the helmet.
The action star has two films that are set to be released later in 2013, both of which must have required that Keanu be on top form.
Additionally, in Man of Tai Chi, Keanu directs and stars in the film based on martial artists.
The film is Keanu’s directorial debut and his martial arts trainer from the Matrix films plays the lead in the Mandarin, Cantonese and English language film.
He continued: ‘It's like play. There's something childlike about it. They are fake fights – and that's fun.’
It's certainly been a very busy few months for the star who has been filming and recently promoting the film Generation Um...
Keanu may also be getting back in shape as he is rumoured to be starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in new sci-fi film Passengers.
