It was case of chilly by name, chilly by nature for Jennifer Connelly and Colin Farrell as they filmed scenes for their upcoming fantasy film Winter's Tale in New York on Tuesday.
The veteran actors and their tiny co-star Ripley Solo, tried to put on brave faces despite the biting cold in Manhattan's famous Central Park.
Cold reception: Jennifer Connelly and Colin Farrell braved the cold as they filmed scenes for their upcoming fantasy film Winter's Tale in New York on Tuesday
The 42-year-old actress' costume for the scene - which was filmed next to the Bethesda Fountain - consisted of a short black floral skirt over opaque stockings with, fortunately for her, a wool-lined navy duffel coat and black military-inspired boots.
Even with her many layers, the star often retreated under one of the large fur-line coats - as did Colin.
Brave faces: The mother of three tries to keep her nine-year-old co-star Ripley Solo warm
On and off duty: The 42-year-old wore a wool lined duffel coat with a skirt and tights but as soon as the cameras stopped rolling quickly added a large padded jacket
The bearded 36-year-old donned a long black overcoat, black jeans and boots to play the film's protagonist Peter Lake.
In a Winter's Tale - which is due out later this year - Colin forms a special bond with the horse who acts as guardian angel.
Hairy situation: Colin, who has a beard and long hair for the film, also rugged up between takes
Directed by Beautiful minds writer Akiva Goldsman, the film has a number of different stories running parallel and intertwined into Colin's, one of which is Jennifer's character Victoria Gamely.
In addition to being reunited with the writer of Beautiful Minds, Jennifer will also get a chance to act alongside her former co-star Russell Crowe.
Unusual tale: The Irish star plays protagonist Peter Lake in the film which switches between Victorian and an alternate, but current, New York
Jennifer looked relaxed - albeit a bit cold - on set Monday, even though the star not only juggles her busy career but also three children.
The actress who first rose to fame in Jim Henson's eighties classic Labyrinth, has a 20-month-old daughter Agnes and a nine year-old son, Stellan, with husband of ten years, Paul Bettany, as well as son Kai, 15, from a previous relationship with photographer David Dugan.
Family ties: Jennifer juggles three children along with her busy career
'They are all such extraordinary kids and they’re great together,' she told the veteran news reporter.
'They never fight, they look after each other. They are loving.
'(However) I think we should call it quits. It’s like trying to move an army getting out of the house and we go everywhere together, so it’s a lot of bodies to move.'
Maternal instincts: The 42-year-old clearly plays mum on set for her little co-star, Ripley
